Why students lose marks in Business Studies
Business Studies is knowledge-accessible but analytically demanding. Students who know the content still underperform because they describe rather than analyse, do not use data from the case study, or fail to justify their recommendations. At A Level, the 20+ mark essays require a structured evaluative argument that must be explicitly practised.
How our tutors help
Our tutors teach Business Studies using the PEEL and MCCM frameworks for structured analytical answers, train students to embed case study evidence in every response, and practise evaluation language that scores the top marks. Past paper data-response and essay questions are central to every session.
Frequently asked questions
My child knows the theory but loses marks on application questions — why?
This is the most common Business Studies challenge. Theory knowledge and case study application are different skills. We specifically train the habit of linking every answer to the scenario given in the question.
Is A Level Business Studies a good subject for students considering management degrees?
Yes. A Level Business Studies provides strong preparation for Business, Economics, and Management degrees. Combined with A Level Economics or Accounting, it creates an excellent foundation.
