Why students lose marks in Mathematics

Mathematics builds on itself — a gap in algebra at Form 2 compounds into exam failures at Form 4. Most students fail not because of low ability but because a foundational concept was never properly understood and never revisited. Exam nerves and time management under pressure are also major factors at both O and A Level.

How our tutors help

Our tutors diagnose the exact gap before teaching anything new. Every session starts from where your child actually is — not where they should be. Worked examples, past paper questions, and mark scheme training are built into every session. A Level students also get support with proof-based questions and the extended written responses that carry significant marks.

Frequently asked questions

My child is weak at maths — is it too late to catch up?

No. We have helped students go from near-fail to strong passes in a single term when sessions are consistent and gaps are targeted. The key is identifying the specific weak areas early and working on them systematically.

Do you cover Cambridge and ZIMSEC?

Yes. We cover both boards at O Level and A Level. Where the syllabi differ — particularly in the statistics and mechanics options at A Level — the tutor teaches to the board your child is registered for.

How many sessions per week does my child need for Maths?

Most students benefit from at least two sessions per week — one for new content and one for exam practice. In the exam term, three sessions per week is common for students who want a strong grade.

Can my child attend both group and 1-on-1 maths sessions?

Yes, and this combination works very well. Group classes build pace and exposure to varied question types; 1-on-1 sessions target the individual gaps that the group format cannot address.
